In depth

Tiling and regrouting for kitchens and bathrooms

Grout is what usually ages a tiling job, not the tiles. Years of cleaning leave grout lines grey, cracked or mouldy, and a bathroom that's structurally fine starts to look tired. Regrouting lifts out the old material, deals with the mould behind it, and replaces it with fresh, mould-resistant grout and silicone — a transformation for a fraction of the cost of retiling.

Where tiles do need replacing — cracked, drummy or missing — we replace them individually and blend the joints in with the surrounding area. For new tiling, we measure the area, calculate the tiles required including cuts, set the lines out properly so the pattern sits straight, and tile from a level datum rather than from wherever the wall happens to be.

We tile kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms, cloakrooms and floors across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, and we seal wet areas properly as part of the job: silicone joints around baths, trays and worktops rather than grout that will crack. Landlords and letting agents use us to bring kitchens and bathrooms back up to standard between tenancies.

Why customers choose Gleamo for this

  • Regrouting and grout refresh as a standalone service, without the cost of retiling.
  • Old grout and failed silicone removed fully, so the new joint actually bonds.
  • Mould-resistant grout and sealant used in wet areas as standard.
  • Layouts set out from a level datum so tiles run straight and cuts are balanced.
  • Cracked or drummy tiles replaced individually and blended into the existing tiling.
  • Tile quantities calculated from measured dimensions, with waste allowed for.

What affects the price

  • Area to be tiled or regrouted, measured in square metres.
  • Tile size and format — large-format and mosaic tiles take considerably longer to fit.
  • Preparation — removing old tiles, backer boards and levelling substrates add work.
  • Existing tiling condition — replacing individual tiles or removing failed adhesive adds time.
  • Pattern complexity — herringbone, brick-bond and feature layouts take longer to set out and cut.
  • Accessories — trims, silicone upgrades and matching grout colours are itemised separately.

Optional extras

  • Tile removal & disposal
  • Underfloor heating prep
  • Mosaic & feature tiling
  • Silicone reseal
