In depth

One handyman, one visit, a proper list of jobs done

Most homes end up with a list: a door that catches, a tap that drips, a mirror waiting to go up, a wardrobe still in its box. Our handyman service exists to clear that list in one visit — one multi-trade professional, with the right tools and fixings on board, working through the jobs one after another instead of you booking four different trades.

We work hourly or per job. Short jobs are billed by the time they take with everything agreed before we start; bigger lists, fitted work and multi-property rounds are quoted as a fixed price so there's no watching the clock. Materials and parts are itemised separately, so you can see exactly what was used.

It's the same service homeowners use for odd jobs, landlords use between tenancies, letting agents use to get a property to standard, and small businesses use for those jobs that never quite make it onto anyone's list. We're based in Peterborough and cover the whole of Cambridgeshire, including Whittlesey, Yaxley, Stamford, Huntingdon, St Neots, March, Wisbech, Ely and Cambridge.

Why customers choose Gleamo for this

  • One vetted multi-trade professional covering carpentry, fittings, sealing, assembly and minor plumbing and electrical work.
  • Quoted upfront — hourly for small jobs, fixed price for lists and fitted work.
  • We bring the right tools, fixings and consumables, so a job doesn't stall on a missing screw.
  • Workmanship guaranteed, and anything that turns out to need a specialist is flagged rather than bodged.
  • Landlord and letting agent friendly: keys handled securely and completion photos on request.
  • Everything is cleared and tidied before we leave — packaging, offcuts and dust included.

What affects the price

  • Time on site — hourly rates start from £40, so a single quick job sits at the lower end.
  • Number of jobs — a longer list is quoted as a fixed price, which usually works out cheaper per job.
  • Materials and parts — supplied and itemised, or fitted from what you've already bought.
  • Access and wall types — solid brick, plasterboard and stud walls need different fixings and take different time.
  • Working height — jobs above standard reach need steps, ladders and sometimes two people.
  • Out-of-hours or urgent visits, where you need something sorted the same day.

Optional extras

  • Painting touch-ups
  • Sealant & silicone work
